Dagorhir Battle Games or simply Dagorhir is a full-contact live action battle game founded in Washington, DC participated by thousands of player members throughout the United States, Canada, and England. The game primarily features full-contact melee fighting as well as ranged combat. Being a combat-oriented game, Dagorhir players use foam weapons that serve as swords, spears, bows, flails, arrows, javelins, axes, and other types of medieval weaponry. Though common in most similarly-themed live action role-playing games (LARP), magic is not used in Dagorhir. Players or participants are expected to dress up in medieval costumes.
Dagorhir is open to the public and membership is available free of charge although fees may be collected during events to cover organizing, logistics, and accessory costs. Players are required to abide by the tenets of safety, playability, and realism. Referees, called as heralds in this game, enforce rules and oversee Dagorhir games or events. Weapons and equipment used in the game are inspected for safety and appropriateness.
