Bushido is a Samurai themed role-playing game designed by Robert N. Charrette and Paul R. Hume and published by Fantasy Games Unlimited (originally by Tyr Games and Phoenix Games). It is set in Feudal Japan in a land called "Nippon." The theme is based on Chanbara movies featuring characters who possess modest superhuman abilities.
The game features various characters with different attributes, skills, levels, and professions namely: Bushi or fighters, Budoka or martial artists, Yakuza or gangsters, Ninja, Shugenja or Taoist-style wizards, and Gakusho the priests. There are six character levels and characters move from one level to another through down-time training and level advancement achieved by honorable behavior and loyal service.
Supplements for the game have been published. They are the "Valley of the Mists" by Robert N. Charrette, "Takishido's Debt" by Steve Bell, "Ninja - Shadows Over Nippon," "Adventures in White Dwarf" by by Oliver Johnson and Dave Morris, and "Articles in White Dwarf."
