Flash drives are storage modules created using flash memory chips. Technically, they have no mechanical platters or access arms and instead only emulate the disk storage structure, accessing data as if they were on a disk. Flash drives were introduced as expansion laptop storage devices but they are now widely used as portable storage devices used on virtually every computer via USB ports or card reading accessories.
