Born Jerome Silberman, Gene Wilder made his debut in the big screen in Bonnie and Clyde, but it was not until he started working in Mel Brooks productions that his career really took off. He started in The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein, just to name a few. He married Gilda Radner in 1984, and they remained married until her early death of ovarian cancer in 1989. After Gilda died, Wilder founded the Gilda Radner Ovarian Cacer Detection Center in Los Angeles, as well as Gilda's Club, a support group with branches all over the country.
