Born Allen Stewart Konigsberg in Brooklyn, New York, on December 1, 1935, Woody Allen is an award-winning actor, film director, playwright, and screenwriter. At the age of 15, he started his writing career selling one-liners for a gossip column in the local newspaper. He then graduated to stand-up comedian, and wrote the screenplay for "What's New Pussycat" in 1965. In 1966, he directed "What's Up Tiger Lily?" His persona as a neurotic man is, he admits, autobiographical. He is noted for his eyeglasses, which are the same as the ones he has worn since the 1960s.
