Nathaniel Adams Coles, born on March 17, 1919 was known by music lovers everywhere as Nat King Cole, started his career as a jazz pianist but came to worldwide fame as a singer with a smooth baritone voice which lent itself easily to all genres. He was the first black American to host his own TV show, and although he died in 1965, his fan base maintains all its fervor. In fact, in 1991, his daughter, Natalie Cole, sang a duet with her father, made possible by technology, by singing along with a video of him singing his 1961 hit "Unforgettable." The song and album won seven Grammies.
