Salvatore Phillip Bono, known as "Sonny" discovered Cher, whom he later married. They became Sonny and Cher, a top rock duo, had a very successful television show, and after they divorced, Sonny was elected to Congress. He died in 1998, reportedly in a skiing accident, though his cause of death later became a controversy.
