Latin America is the region of the Americas where languages derived from Latin are spoken - notably Spanish and Portuguese, and occasionally French, and can be defined as all those parts of the Americas that were once part of the Spanish and Portuguese Empires. Latin American literature includes both the written and oral literature of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.
