May Ziadeh (Ziadé, Ziyada or Ziade) was born in 1886 in Nazareth, Palestine to a Lebanese/Palestinian family. Her family emigrated to Egypt in 1908. She was a poet, translator, orator, essayist, and critic, and held a literary salon which was attended by the prominent intellectuals of Egypt. She died in 1941.
