Sheldon Alan "Shel" Silverstein was a poet, singer-songwriter, musician, composer, cartoonist, screenwriter, and author of children's books. He was born in Chicago in 1935 and died in 1999.
His best known books were "The Giving Tree" and "Where the Sidewalk Ends".
