In the mid 80s my wife and I decided that we needed a better piano. Our four young children were showing musical talent and our upright Baldwin Monarch was, truthfully, inadequate. So I began searching for a perfect piano. After "auditioning" dozens of pianos in several cities, a 1928 Steinway M captured our hearts. It was at our local Steinway dealer, on consignment from a retired professor. The sounds produced were truly, magically thrilling.

Last year our piano tuner told us that he could no longer keep it in tune. There was just too much wear on too many parts. He told us we needed to have our piano completely restored. So, I began a second search, interviewing people at half-a-dozen restoration shops, including at Steinway's new restoration center in Iowa. Everyone of these people involved in piano restoration was genuinely nice and was happy to accommodate my many questions. One shop really seemed to stand out, Lindeblad, So, I made an appointment to visit their workshop in northern New Jersey and booked a flight to Newark, rented a car and drove over. I could not have been more impressed. Their shop is in a very old and expansive building on a hillside in a charming village, with very friendly craftspeople focusing intently on producing best quality restoration. Cases over here. Soundboards in the next bay. Movements being rebuilt in the bay after that. On, and on. There must have been at least 50 or 60 or more fine instruments there, and perhaps twenty master craftspeople--each a specialist in a different part of the piano. Several were members of the Lindeblad family and many others had worked at Steinway for years before Steinway moved their restoration department away from New York.

Lindeblad flawlessly transported our piano from our living room to their shop, and back. It now sounds even better than it did 40 years ago, with more clarity, volume, and responsiveness. I've been told that a 1928 M model grand piano is a product of Steinway's golden age. Of this I am sure: Our piano is now one of the best sounding pianos anywhere. I am so glad we discovered and chose Lindeblad.

My Steinway grand was delivered to California all the way from NJ last week! It was a pleasure to work with Lindeblad Piano. Todd and his team were extremely efficient and professional. They provided a lot of details and offered a lot of video calls considering that I was making a long distance purchase. They made sure the piano was in perfect condition. The delivery was right on time and the first tuning is already scheduled. I appreciate that they have strong network in all areas of US, and responds to my questions timely. My piano is perfect and meet my expectation in every aspect! Their service was fantastic and very personal! Strongly recommend!

We had an outstanding experience purchasing our Steinway Model L from Lindeblad Piano. Pricing was transparent and the purchase price was more than fair. Financing was a snap. The delivery process was excellent. The service provided by Todd Lindeblad exceeded all expectations. He answered all of our questions promptly and had great insight into matching a piano with our needs. Finally, the proof is in the product: the quality of the piano in terms of its action and how it sounds is amazing! Competitive pricing, outstanding service, and an exceptional piano. Who could ask for anything more?

My Grandfather gave me a Steinway upright as a young girl in the 1960s. After several moves and exposure to the elements it was a sorry sight. The bench was badly scarred and water damage from plants spotted the surfaces. Some of the wood cabinetry was chipped off completely. The action was noisy, and the piano was simply in terrible shape.
When I reached out to Lindeblad I found a warm, responsive knowledgeable family run business that takes care of each client and piano with impeccable standards. We were sent videos and photos of our technicians, received regular feedback and invitations for input throughout the process of restoration, and had timely pickup and drop-off of the instrument.
Not only was the piano restored to its original beauty, but the entire process was a joy. What a terrific experience. What a worthwhile investment! If you have an heirloom like mine, I hope you will entrust Lindeblad with its restoration. You will be glad you did.....

I can't speak highly enough about Lindeblad Piano Restoration. I had always dreamed of owning a Steinway grand, but always felt like it was just out of reach. Todd Lindeblad gave patient and knowledgable advice about selecting a model for my space and options for restoration. Thanks to Lindeblad, I have the piano I always dreamed of.

I’m a professional pianist. Last year I discovered a crack on the soundboard of my 1923 Steinway L and I started researching having the piano rebuilt. It was a delightful process since I went with Lindeblad pianos. The package included shipping both ways (CA to NJ) and I was provided with a loader grand piano while my piano was away. While the piano was in their shop, I was also given a tour while I happened to perform in NYC. Not to mention the immaculate new soundboard they put in - I couldn’t be happier. Highly, highly, highly recommended.

Nine years ago I was looking for a piano and came across a very special 1910 Hamburg Steinway B at Lindeblad Pianos. After several attempts to achieve the desired voicing and tone, it became necessary to change the hammers on the piano.
Lindeblad helped in the process and made possible a musical instrument worthy of the name.
My thanks to Lindeblad for standing behind their restoration work and product

Great buying experience. Got the Steinway D about a year ago and it continues to shine. Every aspect of the purchase was handled in such a way as to make us comfortable, satisfied, and happy. Would definitely look to them if we wanted another, but also if we wanted to refurb one of our existing pianos.

We recently purchased a restored 1902 Mason & Hamlin piano from Todd at Lindeblad. The whole experience was great. We happen to live 45 minutes from the showroom, so we were lucky to have the opportunity to try out about dozen gorgeous pianos. Todd was kind enough to take to his restoration facility as well, where we tried out a bunch more. He was very patient with us, answered all our questions, and once we decided, he addressed the very minor issues the piano had before delivery. We've had the piano about a month now and are very pleased with our purchase and with the attention we got from Todd. Highly recommended if you are looking for a beautiful instrument.

Well, I got my piano back this morning from Lindeblad Piano Restoration--it is all set up and filling its place in our living room. I found it rather difficult to select a restoration company to restore my 1915 Mason and Hamlin grand. After a great deal of research, I selected Lindeblad Piano Restoration based on others' recommendations as well as my first-hand interaction with Todd Lindeblad. Off my piano went to New Jersey, with a small dose of trepidation...

I will say I am nearly speechless--the overall beauty of the piano is staggering, but the detailed craftsmanship is simply stunning. The cabinetwork and finish are flawless, the polished metal parts look virtually new, and the action and sound are gorgeous! I had not realized how tired and lifeless my piano was sounding before. I fully expected an outstanding job from Lindeblad, but the overall finished restoration exceeds even my expectations. Even after shipping across the country, the tune is still very good which is a testament to the solid construction.

I want to sincerely thank Lindeblad and all of their highly skilled family and craftsmen for their part in restoring this part of my family history--my grandmother would be so pleased to see her piano looking like new again, and I will enjoy playing it for many years to come.
