“Arrr!” September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day.
In 1995, two guys, John Baur and Mark Summers, decided to create Talk Like a Pirate Day. It was just something funny among themselves and few of their closest friends. For several years on September 19th, they would celebrate and talk like pirates.
Then in 2002, the pirate talkers emailed Dave Barry, Pulitzer Prize winning humor columnist and author. Dave actually answered their email and wrote a column about Talk Like a Pirate Day.
The idea took off and now Talk Like a Pirate Day is celebrated around the world.
