Starring The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Kyra Sedgwick, and Madison Pettis , The Game Plan opens today, September 28, 2007. Rated PG for mild thematic elements, the film is geared towards families and is generally appropriate for younger audiences.
The Game Plan follows the story of Joe Kingman, a handsome superstar quarterback who is living the American dream — major sports star, wealthy, famous, and loved by women — when he discovers that he is the father of a 7-year old daughter that he never knew he had. When Peyton, his daughter, shows up on his doorstep, Joe is forced to quickly figure out how he will balance his old priorities — practice, parties, women — with the responsibilities that fatherhood brings, like ballet classes and Barbie dolls.
Joe’s agent Stella, cleverly played by Kyra Sedgwick, is as out-of-her-element as Joe, seeming to not possess even a shred of parental instinct. Throughout the movie, comedy ensues as Joe learns how to interact with his most pint-sized fan, gradually learning that life is about a lot more than his bank balance, social calendar, and adoring audience.
The Game Plan is a feel good movie with a generous amount of humor, sports, and everyday life thrown into the mix.
