All week long, VH1 is celebrating the 90’s with a five-night countdown of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 90’s. The countdown show begins at 10pm ET/PT each night. The songs on the list were determined by more than 600,000 votes that were cast on VH1.com.
The #1 song on the list is Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The 1991 hit boosted the Seattle grunge group to stardom and was one of the first alternative songs to hit the mainstream music charts.
During the countdown show, viewers can enjoy archival clips from past performances and interviews. Included in the spotlights will be Sinead O’Connor, Backstreet Boys, Salt N’ Pepa and Vanilla Ice.
