The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards takes place on September 16, 2007. The events, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will be broadcast on FOX and hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

The Emmy Awards celebrate excellence in prime time television programming, awarding top honors at this annual gala event. The awards show take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.Nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series include 30 Rock, Entourage, The Office, Two And A Half Men and Ugly Betty. The nominations for Outstanding Drama Series include Boston Legal, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, House and The Sopranos.

For the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, the nominees include Patricia Arquette (Medium, NBC), Minnie Driver (The Riches, FX Network), Edie Falco (The Sopranos, HBO), Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters, ABC), Mariska Hargitay (Law & order: Special Victims Unit, NBC) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer, TNT).

In the lead actor category, James Gandolfini (The Sopranos, HBO) gets his sixth nomination. Hugh Laurie (House, FOX), Denis Leary (Rescue Me, FX Network), James Spader (Boston Legal, ABC) and Kiefer Sutherland (24, FOX), his 10th nomination, round out the category.

On the comedy side, Outstanding Lead Actress nominees include America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, ABC), Tina Fey (30 Rock, NBC), Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives, ABC), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine, CBS) and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Showtime).

For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series honors Alec Baldwin (30 Rock, NBC), Steve Carell (The Office, NBC), Ricky Gervais (Extras, HBO), Tony Shalhoub (Monk, USA) and Charlie Sheen (Two And A Half Men, CBS).
