Terrence Howard plays Lt. Colonel James Rhodes in the Iron Man film. Rhodes becomes friend with Stark after Iron Man saves his life while at war. Howard is a 39-year-old actor who first broke onto the scene in 1995 when he played a highly-regard role in Mr. Holland’s Opus. Other films he has appeared in include Crash, Hustle & Flow, Get Rich or Die Tryin and Four Brothers.

Gwyneth Paltrow appears in the Iron Man movie as Virginia Potts. Potts is Stark’s secretary and also his close friend. Paltrow is known for her work in movies such as Se7en and Shakespeare in Love. She has won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe over her 18-years in Hollywood.

The villain in the Iron Man movie is played by Jeff Bridges. Bridges plays Obadiah Stane, who begins as Stark’s friend but then eventually becomes his enemy. Bridges is a 58-year-old actor who has been in the acting business for 38 years. Recently, Bridges has played prominent roles in the films The Contender and Tideland.Other actors who appear in the Iron Man movie include Shaun Toub, Faran Tahir, Leslie Bibb, Bill Smitrovich and Gerard Sanders. There are also a number of notable cameos throughout the film.

Jon Favreau is the director of the Iron Man movie. At 41, Favreau is already a high-regarded film director. Other moves he has directed include Made, Elf and Zathura. He has also written (movies such as Made and Swingers) and acted (movies such as Rudy, Deep Impact and The Replacements). Favreau was named the director of the Iron Man movie in April of 2006 and was extremely active in virtually every aspect of the film.

The Iron Man movie was almost made numerous times. In 1990, Universal Studios purchased the rights to Iron Man. It was first going to be a low budget film but Universal Studios never was able to make the film. In 1996, Universal Studios sold the rights to 20th Century Fox. While 20th Century Fox, many famous actors were interested in working on the film including Nicholas Cage and Tom Cruise. A number of screenplays were written but 20th Century Fox also failed to make the film a reality. In 2000, 20th Century Fox sold the rights to New Line Cinema. New Line Cinema also came up with screenplays but after a few years they too gave up on the project. At that point, Marvel re-acquired the movie rights.

Instead of Marvel selling the movie rights to Iron Man again, they decided to take on the project themselves. Marvel Studios is behind this current Iron Man release. In fact, Iron Man is Marvel Studio’s first self-financed movie. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film for Marvel Studio. After Iron Man is released, Marvel Studios will release a number of self-financed movies in the next few years including The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and The Avengers.

On May 2nd, Iron Man is going to be released to theaters across the United States. Those people who have been fans of Marvel Comics will recognize Iron Man. In fact, man fans have been waiting years for this release. The rights to the Iron Man movie were first purchased in 1990 but it wasn’t until now that a film is ready for release.

The Iron Man plot utilizes current affairs to help transfer the Iron Man character into modern times. In Iron Man, weapons expert Tony Stark is in Afghanistan to show off his new weapon. The weapon was to be used by the United States military. However, while in Afghanistan, Stark was kidnapped by terrorists. The
terrorist demand that Stark make a weapon for their use while he’s held captive. Given a workroom by the terrorists, Stark instead builds an advanced body armor weapon that he uses to escape captivity. Stark returns to the United States and he and that advanced body armor weapon become known as Iron Man.

A number of big name actors appear in the Iron Man movie. Tony Stark is played by Robert Downey, Jr., who has appeared in such recent films such as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Good Night and Zodiac. Downey, who is 43-years-old, has been a big name actor since the 1980’s.

Filming for Iron Man began in April of 2007. A majority of the film was shot in California. Even the scenes of the movie that were set in Afghanistan were actually filmed in California. Los Angeles was the main hub of all the filming. The images of the military base in the movie were filmed at Edwards Air Force Base, which is also located in Los Angeles.

Interestingly enough, the actors in the Iron Man movie used a lot of improvisation. Many parts of the movie were filmed without a script – which meant that the actors themselves needed to come up with the lines. Many of the most memorable lines in the movie were actually improvisational lines.

While there are many special effects used in the movie, Favreau made it a point to make sure that everything looked as realistic as possible. Since the film is loosely based off of current events, the filmmakers didn’t want anything to be too unrealistic. The music in the Iron Man movie was composed by Ramin Djawadi. Djawadi is a longtime fan of the Iron Man character and even claims to have original comic books dating back more than 20 years.

The Iron Man movie will be marketed heavily throughout the world. More than $50 million has been put aside to market the movie. 7-Eleven, Audi and Burger King have partnered to get the word out on the movie. There will also be an Iron Man video and Iron Man action figures. If you watched this past year’s Super Bowl closely, you would have seen a commercial for Iron Man during the broadcast.

If you like the Iron Man movie, there is additional good news for you. Iron Man is expected to be the first movie in a trilogy that will return all the actors for each movie. The actual release dates haven’t been announced but the trilogy is expected to be complete within the next half decade.

Film critics are already giving Iron Man rave reviews. The main theme throughout the reviews is that Iron Man simply isn’t a run of the mill comic book remake. Critics like how it was adapted to fit current times. The Iron Man movie also gets praise for skipping clichéd moments and ideas in comic book based movies. Based on the reviews, it’s safe to say that Iron Man was successfully brought into current time – even though the original characters first appeared in a totally different era of world politics.

For those who are a fan of the Iron Man character from the comic books, this is definitely a movie that you want to see. The Iron Man character is portrayed with all the characteristics of the comic book character. Even though he has been brought into modern times, he hasn’t lost his appeal.

Even if you have never heard of the Iron Man character before, this movie is also worth watching. With the tie-ins to current politics, you can follow the storyline without any trouble.
