Two-time Grammy winner and rock and roll legend Ike Turner died on Wednesday at the age of 76. According to his manager, the cause of death was not immediately known. Over the last couple of years, Turner was actively touring all around the world.

Turner’s career was often overshadowed by allegations of drug addiction and spousal abuse of his former wife, singer Tina Turner. The abuse first came to light to a broad audience after Tina Turner released her autobiography “I, Tina” in 1987.
A movie was later made based off the autobiography entitled “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and that further tarnished Ike Turner’s public reputation.
Tina Turner didn’t have much to say when she learned of Ike’s passing. In fact, a spokesman for Tina Turner simply said that she had heard of the news but had not had contact with him in 35 years. The spokesman said that no further comment would be made.
Ike Turner’s family asks that in lieu of flowers that you donate to the music department of your local school in Ike’s name so the music lives on.
