What do Steve Martin, Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese, Leon Fleisher and Brian Wilson all have in common? The five will be recognized tonight during the 30th Annual Kennedy Center Honors. The taped ceremony will be shown on CBS at 9:00 p.m. EST.
During the show, speakers will talk about how each person has contributed to the American culture. First held in 1978 in the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., this award is considered on of the highest in the industry.
Steve Martin is a wellknown actor, writer and comedian who has been in the American spotlight for over 30 years. Martin has been in dozens of movies and has penned a number of books. Diana Ross is best known as being one of the most popular singers of the last century. She has had over 20 top ten singles and nearly a dozen top ten albums. Ross has been one of the most influential women in music. Martin Scorsese is an Academy Award-winning film director, writer and producer and is widely hailed as one of the most influential people in the film industry of his era. Leon Fleisher is a 79-year-old pianist and conductor while Brian Wilson is mostly known for being part of The Beach Boys.
